Cyclobility Ghent moves from Kompasplein to Handelsdokkaai
On Tuesday, June 28, Cyclobility Ghent moved to a new building on Handelsdokkaai. Andries Aumann, managing director of Cyclobility, is proud: "The old building at Kompasplein had become too small, and it has been replaced by a beautiful new retail space, allowing us to respond even better to the needs of the people of Ghent."
The move to a new building in Ghent is perfectly in line with the growth Cyclobility is currently experiencing, as well as the recent capital injection by, among others, Degroof Petercam . Due to this growth and the increasing demand for (electric) bikes, we have relocated from Kompasplein to Handelsdokkaai 1. "A move of just a few hundred meters, but the new location offers so many more possibilities," says founder Andries Aumann. "There is more space to showcase our offering and much more passing traffic."
Even better meeting the needs of cyclists in Ghent
With the opening of this new, more spacious bike shop in Ghent , we aim to respond even better to the needs and expectations of cyclists in the city. Today, many people consciously choose to leave their car behind and opt for sustainable mobility . This shift from car to bike is also noticeable in our stores, which drives us to keep innovating .
Because cycling is for everyone, we recently launched an interest-free bike loan . At Cyclobility, we cover the interest costs so people can purchase a bike and repay it at their own pace. This allows us to offer the most affordable bike loan on the market.
Since it’s not always easy for working people to visit a bike shop after working hours, all our bike shops are open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays . Ideal for getting advice, testing a bike, or dropping off or picking up a repair.
Wide range of high-quality brands
We warmly invite everyone to visit our new bike shop in Ghent, with no obligation. At Cyclobility, quality is a top priority, and we are very selective in the brands we offer. You can find renowned brands such as Stromer , Riese & Müller , BMC and Scott . If any issues arise with a bike, customers can rely on our at-home service or bring their bike into the shop.
Interior design with a nod to the Ghent Six Days
No expense or effort was spared to stylishly design the new store. The interior was created by interior architect Kevin Haedens. At the center of the building, a real eye-catcher was chosen: a velodrome inspired by the track of the Ghent Six Days.
About Cyclobility
Andries founded Cyclobility 6 years ago in Kluisbergen. He had one goal: to get as many people as possible on bikes for their daily commutes. Cyclobility leases bikes to companies for their employees’ commuting needs. Bike leasing can be offered in a fully budget-neutral way through salary exchange. By using gross salary exchange or allocating the gross end-of-year bonus, bike leasing becomes very financially attractive for employees. In this way, employees can choose a high-quality bike to comfortably commute to work.
Cyclobility offers a complete concept. The package includes the bike, all maintenance and repairs, all-risk insurance, roadside assistance and optimal service for the cyclist. Achieving 100% satisfaction is the goal. We also aim to fully relieve employers and HR departments of any burden.
Originally, opening bike shops was never the intention. However, at the request of our partners, we opened our first bike shop in Kluisbergen in 2021. With success, as in 2022 we (re)opened our bike shop in Ghent. In our bike shop, cyclists can come for maintenance and repairs, a test ride, the purchase of a new bike or cycling equipment.
