Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Cyclobility offers efficient solutions for commuting by providing high-quality bicycles, both to companies (through bicycle leasing) and to private individuals (through direct sales in our bike shops). Our mission is to encourage as many people as possible to choose the bicycle as an efficient, reliable, healthy, fast and climate- and environmentally friendly means of transport, for both recreational and functional travel. That is why we work as much as possible with high-quality, environmentally conscious and responsible partners.

As a company, we have responsibilities towards people, the environment and society. In this statement, we would like to explicitly express these responsibilities to all our stakeholders, and to our suppliers in particular. Our aim is not only to show what our intentions are, but also to raise awareness and actively involve other stakeholders in this story. At the same time, we are aware that there is still a long road ahead. Especially in times of supply uncertainty and rising prices, it is not easy to continue respecting these interests while remaining a healthy business.

Nevertheless, we wish to express our commitment beyond purely economic considerations. This commitment is built on three pillars:

  • environment and climate

  • circularity and supply chain

  • people and society

Environment and climate

By helping hundreds of people in Belgium each year to access an affordable and reliable bicycle, we directly and indirectly save tens of thousands of car kilometres. The positive effects speak for themselves. We expect this trend to continue, driven by high energy prices and growing awareness.

Approximately 90% of our bicycles are produced almost entirely in Europe. This results in fewer transport kilometres and cleaner production. Through information sessions at companies and in our shops, we convince customers that cycling is not only good for their wallet, but also for the environment and the climate. In addition, our aim is to keep bicycles as high-quality and low-maintenance as possible. In this way, we save time, resources, unnecessary travel, materials and products.

Circularity and supply chain

We are in continuous contact with our suppliers to request transparency throughout the supply chain. There is still a great deal of uncertainty, particularly regarding the production of bicycle batteries. The raw materials for these batteries are often still extracted in conflict areas under poor working conditions. In addition, the recycling of batteries and other bicycle components remains complex. Wherever possible, we therefore choose products that are partly or fully made from recycled materials (such as aluminium frames and tyres) and/or are recyclable. For example, we collect all our old inner and outer tyres so they can be picked up for recycling.

Furthermore, we work together with Upway to give used bicycles a place within the circular economy.

People and society

The human aspect is also central to our operations. We place great importance on fair and proportionate remuneration. All our employees therefore receive equal pay and are given ample opportunities to pursue training and professional development. In addition, we work together with the sheltered workshop Werkplus for the assembly and delivery of our bicycles. In this way, we create opportunities for people who may have more difficulty accessing the regular labour market.

We encourage employers to grant bicycle allowances for commuting. This allowance motivates employees to leave their cars behind in favour of cycling and also has a positive impact on their mental well-being. The outcome is truly win-win.

For our financing, we work among others with Down2Earth Capital, Triodos Bank, Regenero Impact Fund, Trivided and Change. All of these partners use their resources to help initiate sustainable change.

By sharing all these ambitions, we hope to involve as many stakeholders as possible in this approach. Do you have any questions, comments, suggestions or feedback? We are open to all input and always willing to listen and learn. Please feel free to contact us at info@cyclobility.be or by phone at +32 55 60 66 97.
