Test first, then lease

First and foremost, you’ll have to find your perfect bike. That is why Cyclobility organises one or more on-site events every year. Just for you! We bring along around 20 different bikes, ranging from electric cargo bikes to speed pedelecs to very comfortable electric bikes with a low step. Cyclobility gives personal advice while you discover our collection.

Not able to attend one of these events? No problem! All bikes can be tested by appointment at our test centre in Kluisbergen, Ghent, Aalst, Allter, Zedelgem, Sint-Niklaas, Lier or Roeselare or via our network of local bike stores.

  • On our website, each shop has its own page where you will find the address, contact details and also opening hours for each branch.

    All shops are closed on Sundays and Mondays. On Thursdays, we are open until 8 p.m. (except in Roeselare, where we are open until 7 p.m.).

  • A bicycle lease can only be arranged through your employer. As a private individual, leasing a bicycle is not possible. You can take out a bicycle loan as a private individual, however. Also, with a bicycle lease you are not the owner of the bicycle, but the renter. The average lease term is 48 months. At the end of this term, the bicycle is still the property of the leasing company. At that time you can choose to take over the bicycle by paying the residual value.

    If you take out a bicycle loan, you are the owner of the bicycle.

  • Leasing a bicycle as a private person unfortunately is not possible. However, it is possible to obtain a bicycle loan as a private person. So you can buy a bicycle and pay it off at your leisure.

  • There are very few disadvantages to bike leasing, and they certainly don’t outweigh the many benefits. These are the main things to keep in mind:

    1. Early termination fee: If you resign from your job, you can choose to purchase the bike. If you don’t, you’ll need to pay a termination fee. If your employer ends your contract, they are responsible for the termination fee.

    2. No ownership during the lease period: You are not the owner of the bike during the lease. However, you can choose to purchase it at the end of the lease term.

    3. Minimal impact on your pension: If you lease a bike through your employer using a gross salary exchange, your gross salary will be slightly lower. This has a limited effect on your pension. You can read all about it here.

  • Yes, you can lease a bike as a self-employed person in a secondary occupation.

  • At the end of the lease, you have three options: return the bike, lease a new bike or purchase the bike at its residual value. Cyclobility will inform you well in advance about your options so you can make an informed decision.

  • Yes! Your lease bike can be used for both commuting and private purposes, with no additional restrictions.

  • Yes! At the end of the lease, you have the option to purchase your bike at a predetermined residual value. Cyclobility will notify you in advance so you can make the best choice for you.

  • Yes, maintenance can be performed at any Cyclobility-approved local bike dealer. Regular servicing and repairs are often included in the lease package to keep your bike in top condition.
